Activities
After the students arrive at the camp they have 3 full days of activities
in and out of the main camp area.
Students will decide which activities they want to do before they set
off.
The activities inside the camp consist of:
:: Discovery Day
The Discovery Day involves students exploring Coniston Village to discover
about the local history and find out about the famous local people. There is also
a treasure hunt activity.
:: Creative Day
The Creative Day involves teams of students completing a number of tasks. Tasks
include songs, painting, sculpture and fashion design.
:: Challenge Day
The Challenge Day involves teams of students completing a number of challenges.
Challenges include races, obstacle course, puzzles and team building exercises.
The out of camp activities are:
:: Climbing
Climbing takes place at a nearby disused quarry. The students use various
pieces of equipment to navigate several different climbs. The students also
learn how to absail down a rock face.
:: Mountain Biking
There are various different cycle routes that are available around the area.
The favourites are the "Round the lake" route and the "Hawkshead" route.
All the equipment is provided and it is a fantastic way to see the beautiful
scenery.
:: Walking
There are various different walks around the local area for those who enjoy
a leisurely stroll with your mates.
:: Sailing
Sailing is an activity that most people haven't done before and is a brilliant way
to see the lake and campsite from a completely different perspective. Just watch
out for the wind picking up!
:: Kayaking
This is one of the most tiring activities at camp. There is lots of paddling and some climbing back in if you are unlucky enough to fall out of your kayak. The most popular route is a paddle up the lake to the marina and the launching area, where you can have a hot drink and a cake, then paddle back in time for a meal at camp.
:: Ghyll Scrambling
Ghyll scrambling is one of the most enjoyable activities on camp with a trip up the
bed of a white water ghyll. You will climb over rocks, duck under trees, walk
through pools of cold water and climb up small waterfalls. You also get to know a
bit of local history from your tour guide.
Which activity will you choose?
